'Think how you love me,' she whispered. 'I don't ask you to love me always like this, but I ask you to remember.'

'You'll always be like this to me.'

'Oh no; but promise me you'll remember.' Her tears were falling. 'I'll be different, but somewhere lost inside me there'll always be the person I am tonight.'

I don’t think I’ve ever met someone who has chosen to love me as deeply and thoroughly as this man. I don’t think I’ve ever watched someone strive to love me like Christ loves me as actively and steadily as this man. I have all the freedom in the world with him. This is my favorite place to be.

That song is very personal. I wasn’t necessarily in that state of mind when I wrote that song. It’s a very reflective song. I mean, it’s about guilt, isn’t it? ‘Don’t you mind? Don’t you mind?’ Of course they mind. Everything that I said, I did all those things, which are not good things. A lot of people connect to that song. It’s a song about guilt—it’s a sad song, but it’s also one of my favorites. [x]
